About Us

At AME Custom Apparel, our journey is more than just about clothing—it’s about faith, family, and community. Our business is deeply rooted in the Greater Institutional AME Church in Chicago, a place that has shaped our family for generations and continues to inspire our work today.

Our co-owner, Renee, first walked through the doors of G.I. as a young child, sent to church with her brothers, where she was shepherded under the legendary Rev. Jesse Cotton. Those early years instilled in her a strong foundation of faith, service, and the power of community—values that continue to guide our business.

Years later, I, Michael, moved into our family home and naturally found my place at G.I., worshiping under the pastoral leadership of now Bishop Julius McAllister, followed by Rev. Walter Johnson, and now under Rev. Charlie Cross. The church has always been more than just a place of worship for us—it has been a pillar of support, a source of inspiration, and ultimately, the birthplace of AME Custom Apparel.

Our mission is simple: to help AME members and ministries represent their faith with style and pride. Whether it’s for lay organizations, WMS, YPD, church anniversaries, or special events, we provide custom apparel that reflects the strength and unity of our community.

Today, you can find us vending and fellowshipping at 4th District AME events, connecting with fellow believers, and celebrating the legacy that has given us so much. This isn’t just business—it’s a ministry, a calling, and a way to give back to the church that helped start it all.
